Oh, man. Video on Demand has been the Holy Grail for next-generation cable services for -- what? -- ten years? Fifteen? Video on Demand could be trumped readily by more technically feasible near-demand services, that's been clear to me for some time. The programmers (in the TV sense) don't know enough tech.

Last week there was a meeting at Clay Shirky's in NY to talk about social software, whatever that is. By coincidence I was in NY, for other reasons. There were at least a few bloggers at Clay's meeting. Why is no one is talking about it? [Scripting News]
I blinked Steve Johnson's account and commented on Monday.
