Rumored for awhile, but nonetheless surprising: Illinois Death Row Emptied [Washington Post: Front Page]

This after outgoing-Governor Ryan pardoned four who had been, by his account, tortured into confessing by Chicago police. Somehow, that fortified doubts about the integrity of the criminal justice system, which bears on what to think about the death penalty.
