Watched Birthday Girl last night (available in DVD and VHS formats -- I rented it). I liked it rather much, though I see many reviewers lukewarm. To my mind, it made sense, and I liked the way it developed. It wasn't one of those where the protagonist makes mistake after mistake mistake, and you're shouting at the screen, "No, you idiot!" A choice has been made before the titles roll, and all falls out from that. Nicole Kidman is tremendous in it.
