Larry Lessig, before leaving for a well deserved vacation (he just finished a draft of his new book he says), says
hey, listen to this. So one of the million things I've not had time to do while finishing this draft (answering a b'gillion emails is another) was to listen to this. As I described before, Colin Mutchler posted a guitar track to Opsound. Opsound makes its content available to others under a Creative Commons Attribution-Share-Alike license. Cora Beth, a 17 year old violinist, took the track and added a violin track. The result is this.
As Brian Flemming commented on the post, "a great way to illustrate the value of CC to someone who perhaps doesn’t quite get it." Indeed it is. Listen to this, and you'll can't help but get it.

[Dave]: Three years ago today. Over and over at the hearing I heard this idea. If musicians don't get paid they won't make music. How do they know that? I don't even think it's true. It might be true of some musicians. I know it's not true of all.

Monsanto Sues Dairy in Maine Over Label's Remarks on Hormones. Monsanto sued the small milk producer after it used labels that seem to disparage the use of artificial growth hormones in cows. By David Barboza. [New York Times: Business]
The argument in this one is perplexing. Monsanto has been especially aggresive on these fronts, but usually it's easier for me to see where they have a beef. (Ar, ar.) In this case, it seems that just advertising, "We don't put sugar in our milk," say, would warrant action by the sugar producers trade association, or something, if the Monsanto suit makes sense.

Adam asks, why (n)echo?.
ofcourse I don't want to stifle 'progress', I just don't see the need for a competing format that does everything rss already does for me. perhaps someone will take the time to explain to the users what the differences are and benefits of a new format. To me it only appears to errode the infrastructure I have helped build over the past 3 years.
. . .
I beg for explanation, in simple terms, why do I need (n)echo?
I'm reading along, too.
