Rex's post on the Online politics conference, day 1 is of interest, not because he says the conference has been interesting, but because he has some actual light about the Declan-fanned heat concerning the FEC's purported intent to regulate blogging. He asked an FEC commissioner about it. Follow the link for details, or read the next graf in which he summarizes his take on things:
Bottom line: This faux controversy is not going away. However, the real rule making issue will focus on the role of blogs by regulated political and advocacy groups -- those groups that are already subjected to regulation and have to work within those parameters.
