MICROSOFT SEEKS APPEAL OF ANTITRUST RULING
Microsoft said yesterday that it has no plans to give up a
legal challenge in a South Korean court, one day after
regulators rejected its appeal of an antitrust ruling
against the company. The US software maker also has appealed
to the Seoul High Court.

EC UNVEILS CHARTER FOR FILM CONTENT ONLINE [PDF]
The European Commission has used the Cannes Film Festival to
unveil a new charter for bringing films online. The charter
recognizes the value of peer-to-peer technologies as a
positive development for the legitimate online distribution
of content.

GLOBAL STING LEADS TO HUNDREDS OF ARRESTS FOR FRAUD
Law enforcement officials arrested 565 people in five
countries in an international effort dubbed Operation Global
Con, which has sought to disrupt criminal groups operating
major fraud schemes that have generated more than $1
billion. There are several different schemes used, said
officials, including sweepstakes offers, investment pyramid
funds, Nigerian letter fraud and phishing schemes.

BERNERS-LEE CALLS FOR NET NEUTRALITY
Speaking at the World Wide Web conference in Edinburgh, Tim
Berners-Lee called for clear separation between Internet
access and Internet content. Berners-Lee characterized the
issue as a US-only problem at present, noting that Net
neutrality was the rule in Europe.
