She's Actual Size, Nationwide, Believe "I've cooked myself a huge bowl of dal, a huge mug of green tea with mint, and am overdosing on "E! True Hollywood Story" while I do some busy work."
Personally I'm glugging Italian red and trying to think Jung.

The Recording Industry is Trying to Kill the Goose That Lays the Golden Egg
"People who never download or burn their own ("Offline" and "Nonusers") make up about 54% of the population and only buy about 39% of the CDs. Using values explained below of about 881.9 million CDs and 239 million people over 9 years old, that yields a value of 2.7 CDs purchased per year per person. Those that do sometimes download and burn their own (combining the other categories) make up 46% of the population yet buy 61% of the CDs (4.9 per year each). Of those, the "Lovers" and "Learners" make up only 22% of the surveyed population, yet buy 36% of all CDs (6.1 per year each). The "Lovers" alone make up about 5% of the population and buy about 15% of the CDs (9.7 per year each). So, it seems the more you buy, the more likely you are to download and burn your own, or, to put it another way, the more you burn the more you buy. [via "Dan" ]
Not only that, but neither Love nor Learning are served by commercial radio. So the march on Net Radio will only make matters worse. I owe my current wishlist on CDNow entirely to the discovery of RadioParadise. Shut that down and who knows when I'll hear something worth buying. 8:26:29 PM | permalink | comment [] |

Get your skates on for e-learning success "The economic value of speed is huge. ROI is not the only goal. Executives look for other signs of value as well, such as emotional intelligence, performance improvement and, even more important, return on expectations of organisations and their customers." [elearningpost]
Some excellent points in this article but I'm at sea on the emotional intelligence bit. "Henderson, that's a fine looking plan. Are you positive we can get those EI numbers in just six months?" Wha..? 11:30:17 AM | permalink | comment [] |

E-learning and Integration Projects Best for Roi "According to Nucleus, companies that implement e-learning systems for a modest five or six-figure investment typically save money in reduced travel costs, human resources overheads and regulatory compliance." [elearningpost]
$900K US is modest? Tell you what: I can move that decimal place one point to the left, realize all of the gains described here, and have enough left over for a sensible company car. 11:12:21 AM | permalink | comment [] |

Charges expected against U.S. pilots in mishap "The U.S. Air Force will recommend today laying a charge of involuntary manslaughter against the U.S. fighter pilot who dropped a bomb on Canadian soldiers in Afghanistan last April, killing four and injuring eight." PM's Sept. 11 remarks 'disgraceful,' Mulroney says "Pollster Frank Graves, of Ekos Consulting, said yesterday that Mr. Chrétien was reflecting majority opinion in Canada, which does not blame the Americans for Sept. 11, but does acknowledge that the way in which the U.S. projects its power throughout the world comes at a price." [The Globe And Mail - National]
Mulroney echoes Bush's simplistic Good versus Evil, With Us or Against Us mantra. Wouldn't it be great if the world were really that black and white? Of course it would reduce the role of art considerably, what with there being only the one question to ask. 7:39:49 AM | permalink | comment [] |

I wonder how IBM and Motorola, and subsequently Apple, will respond to this? Will they follow suit or champion the status quo, i.e., the reason we have PCs in the first place rather than just television. 7:26:24 AM | permalink | comment [] |
