Ron and Don are broken up as the CBC drops MacLean
"The shocking announcement yesterday brought an end to weeks of intense negotiations on a new deal for Mr. MacLean, who had been seeking a pay raise from $400,000 a year. Mr. Cherry agreed to a new deal two weeks ago that will pay him more than the $700,000 a year in his previous contract. Despite being so widely identified as a duo, the pair were negotiating separately with the CBC."

Cherry earns $700K while MacLean makes $400K? You've got to be kidding. The CBC must be an idiocracy. Here's hoping Ron MacLean signs somewhere else for a million and Don Cherry goes back to tending bar. 2:52:55 PM | permalink | comment [] |

Baby, I got the lowdown, postmodern, funk brother, techno-tweaking blues
"Call them nu blues, call them postmodern -- call them a long time coming. A mix of retro sounds and the twitchy art of electronica, with its samples and loops, bleeps and break-beats, has given the blues step much-needed hop. For a genre that far too often plays it by the book, it is a novel combine indeed."

A word from the wise
"Depending on the vagaries of an algorithm programmed by engineers at a VC-backed Silicon Valley dotcom-vestigial company is not a good idea. A bit of friendly advice. Don't tell the loan officer at the bank that's how you're making your mortgage payments." 2:30:06 PM | permalink | comment [] |
