CharlyZ wrestles with the meaning of a Tarotfying encounter. Drawing on my vast experience in such matters, I'd say he's headed for a date with a statuesque blonde.

And now that I've gone all Raymond Chandler, here's a gem from the man himself: "I'm an occasional drinker, the kind of guy who goes out for a beer and wakes up in Singapore with a full beard."

The Raven is eloquent and on target: "But this time, thankfully, it came too late to occlude the larger message that we are not a nation that communicates its vision of a rational, democratic world by employing the siege engines of war on anyone who disagrees. We want to be seen as the peace marchers, not the Black Bloc, nor even worse, the policemen."
As a pesky Canuck, I agree. This makes the US role that much more difficult, but you have to walk the talk when it comes to little things like freedom and democracy. The view from here is that Bush & Co. are fast with the talk and loose with the walk.

Usable Help "Some folks think that writing procedures is easy -- just jot down all the steps and you're done. But that results in a transcript, not usable documentation."
So true and yet often so tricky to avoid. It's a struggle between accuracy and consistency on the one hand and meaningful narrative on the other. The problem is that it's much easier to blindly crank out procedures in cookie-cutter fashion than it is to maintain a narrative that someone will read.

A weblog of all things Whedon. Joss Whedon being the mind behind Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel, among other things. Easily the best writing on TV, IMO. Via the ever vigilant and increasingly certifiable Mirandala.
