Chris adds to the New York Times list of the most beautiful experiments with both Dalton's atomic theory of matter and Louis Pasteur's experiment in which he disproves the notion of 'spontaneous generation' and in the process demonstrating the existance of micro-organisms. Chris observes that the New York Times list is extremely focused on physics. It would be nice to add to this list from other sciences beyond physics.
I am very fascinated by game theory. The prisoner's dilemma has long held my gaze. When L & I were in the last 3 or 4 years of the marriage it felt like I was a participant in a prisoner's dillemma. We both knew we had to cooperate to escape the marriage. Or perhaps only I did. |
