If they measured apartment size in cubic feet rather than square feet, I'd be paying a lot more rent. I have absurdly high ceilings in the new place - I'd estimate them as at least 12 feet...they're at least twice my height, and I'm 5'7". There's a wonky echo effect in the bedroom and the living room...music sounds good, echoing around slightly but not too much. I think I love this place already. I've still got moving to do - heading over to my mom's in a little bit to pick up a loveseat and a card table w/ chairs to tide me over until I can get a real couch and kitchen table, along with dishes and silverware she got me as a housewarming present. Both parents have actually been immensely helpful with this move. Dad and his wife volunteered to help with the move, which was immensely useful, since I've got a bum shoulder and can't lift anything heavy for any significant distance without crippling pain. They also went shopping for me yesterday morning while I was waiting for the cable guy, getting me a shower curtain, wastebaskets, dish detergent, dish and hand towels, paper goods, etc...and Mom's coming over this afternoon to help with the unpacking - this on the heels of moving my littlest sister out to Smith yesterday for the beginning of her freshman year. Which brings up some thoughts I had yesterday while waiting for Dad/his wife/burly high school kids to show up and help me start moving stuff from the old place...I wrote like a page and a half. Gotta find that notebook - I was going through blog withdrawal and was forced to scribble things down in my chicken scratch handwriting. Scary stuff. Anyway, I'll find that and type it up/post it later today/tomorrow. Gotta get moving now - and I've got to check on the big project at work. I've got to put in a day and a half of work this weekend as well as moving and unpacking. I sure have great timing. =) |
