White House Rejects North Korean Offer for Talks. The White House on Sunday rejected an offer from North Korea to open negotiations over the North's newly disclosed nuclear weapons program. By Philip Shenon. [New York Times: International] Because the easy way to get rid of their nuclear weapons isn't negotiations - that'll take forever, if we're lucky enough to get 'em in the end, right? No, the efficient way is to provoke them until they nuke Seoul - poof! No more nukes! |

From the this-guy-caused-all-problems!-really! department: The Antiguan government is saying that John Allen Muhammed, everyone's favorite sniper, was planning to kidnap the prime minister of Antigua and hold him for ransom. This is on top of the snipers already being linked to the Alabama shooting, another DC area killing, and maybe more in Texas, California, and Oregon. Oh, and the federal death penalty case against them revolves around the restraint of interstate trade. If that's a death penalty offense, why is that Bill Gates is getting off scot-free...? |

Oh, and just to make tonight even better, the Celtics won tonight, 117-107 over the Knicks. Pierce scored 46, and tied the MSG record for made free throws in a game, going 20 for 21 from the line. Horrible defense again, though - the (horrible) Knicks shot .543 from the field for the night, 31 assists to the Celtics' 20...basically, the difference was fouls - the Celtics committed 16 to the Knicks' 33 - for 43-51 from the line for the Cs, and 13-15 for the Knicks. Wow - 30 point difference in free throws alone. That's dramatic. |

Wow - I just got back from what I guess was my first date in like six months - I'm not 100% sure that date is the right word, but I think it is...I met a girl online, at Salon's personals site, and we met in person tonight at a Bickfords in Nashua. Let's just say it went really well - we spent 4 1/2 hours talking...which is exactly what I want in a first date. I'm feelin' good - might not turn out to be anything, but I'm feelin' good. And she's cute, too - looks like Tina Fey from Saturday Night Live, in fact. |
