This is both so right and so wrong - Roger Clemens is pitching for the Yankees against the Red Sox at Yankee Stadium. It's the last time he'll ever face the Sox in the regular season - he's retiring after this year. He's getting slammed - 5-0 for the Sox, through 3 1/3 innings. And up from the masses in Yankee Stadium, you can hear a chant..."Raaaaaah-gerrrrr...Raaaaaah-gerrrrr..." It's a beautiful thing.

I confess, I broke down, I was bad...I bought Babylon 5 Season Three on DVD last weekend. I know I shouldn't have, but hey, I did. At least I resisted the Alias Season One box set, right? That's good, right?

But then again, it's only 53 bucks...no! No! Must resist!

Anyway - watching B5 wipes any doubts out. When you consider the level of acting talent they had on this show, it may be the greatest achievement in TV history. (sorry, but Bruce Boxleitner, Claudia Christian, and guest appearances by Walter Koenig aren't really going to make you forget "One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest") Somehow, they're able to bring by FAR the best performances of their careers to what could easily have been just another sci-fi show with aspirations to be more. It's thanks to B5 that we've gotten Buffy, Alias, etc...long-form, multi-episode (even multi-season!) stories in genre television. I'm still hoping jms gets another shot - and yeah, I know about Jeremiah, but it was, well, bad. jms does GRAND SCOPE! great but Jeremiah was too personal for him, I think. I dunno. I'm gonna watch more now - I'm on disc 3, in Point of No Return, which the P5 poll ranked as the 16th best episode of the 5 year run...
