There's always more Clark hate on the right...

Another entry in the soon-to-be-really-f'n-long list of right-wing freak-outs about Clark: from some online magazine called Front Page. At a message board I frequeent, a right-wing kook was trying to use this and (amusingly) an article from far-lefties CounterPunch to show Horrible Horrible Horrible General Clark is. When the far-right loonies spin around so hard they start trying to quote LEFT-wing loonies to make their point, you know you've seized the middle pretty well |

Wes and Hillary. WES AND HILLARY....Naw (yes, that's the name of a blog) links to a Washington Times report that Hillary Clinton will be co-chair of Wesley Clark's presidential campaign. I don't know if this is really true or if it's just some... [CalPundit] The only places I've seen this report show up are Fox and the Moonie Times - in other words, the most nutty of the nutty. I'm betting it's just an attempt by the Rabid Right to get the Clinton-haters to start hatin' on Clark ASAP. Pretty good sign of how afraid they are of him, huh? |

Interesting note - the Draft Clark campaign has raised nearly 1.7 million dollars, 250,000 or so of that in the last week - 100,000+ in the last day or so. Impressive. And I just saw Gen. Clark on CNN, when asked if he will be running for President, say "Yes". Until I heard that, I was still a bit nervous that he wouldn't be running. He's listing reasons why he's qualified on domestic issues - he taught economics at West Point? Good sign. He also worked at the Office of Management and Budget. Hmm...mentioning something now about how he had an absentee ballot that he sent once that wasn't actually sent from the army base in Germany 'til after the election. He's crediting the Draft Clark movement now - says that he wanted the "elected" candidates to have a chance before he came into the race - sounds like he's very explicitly saying that he doesn't feel any of them are good enough and that the country needs him. Can't disagree. He looked good, sounded good. I'm really looking forward to the next debate - that's when we'll see exactly what he's capable of. |

I get a little freaked out whenever I see a tracking map of Isabel - it's headed straight for the Outer Banks of North Carolina, where my family used to go for summer vacation. I broke my arm there, in fact, 13 years ago, during the buildup to Gulf War I. Nearly all the houses on the mile-or-less wide spit of land that is the Outer Banks are on stilts - at least once you get to the area I vacationed in, north of Kitty Hawk. They're raised for exactly the reasons you'd think - to allow the massive waves to go straight through to the Sound on the other side. The vacation houses in the Corolla area are sturdily built, so I'd imagine the winds won't be too bad - except that a lot of the houses also have enormous bay windows. Ouch. Those are doomed. It's a beautiful area, by the way. If you can, make it down there sometime. Ideally NOT during a hurricane. Oh - I forgot. Another thing to worry about - the oldest feral horse population in the US is in the Corolla area as well. They were shipwrecked there when a Spanish ship ran aground, even before the pony population of Chincoteague. I forget if I'd ever known what's done with them during hurricanes - I'm sure SOMETHING's done, though. |

Clark to Make Pre-Dawn Web Announcement. If you're an early riser, and a Wesley Clark supporter, head on over to DraftWesleyClark.com at 6:30 ET Wednesday morning.... [TalkLeft: The Politics of Crime] Actually, it's 7am and still no webcast. The site was, in fact, inaccessible for a good while there. The man's popular. =) |
