Late-Arriving Candidate Got Push From Clintons. Behind Gen. Wesley K. Clark's candidacy for the White House is a former president fanning the flames. By Katharine Q. Seelye. [New York Times: NYT HomePage]

Good article on the relationship between Clark and Clinton...

Bruce Willis at Davis Fundraiser. That's rather odd. Willis was always an uber-Republican - you know, that class of hollywood celebrities that are allowed to express their opinions without being mocked. [Eschaton]

Maybe he's bitter about his relationship with Arnie and Planet Hollywood?

Disinformation Can Be Beaten. At the bottom left-hand corner of the Clark Sphere, you will find Clark Sphere responses on the numerous and baseless charges against Clark. Some of the fun smears includes right wing nuts lying about Waco, Counterpunch lionizing Milosevic in Kosova, Mike Jackson - ghoulish British fixer extraordinaire - talking about World War III, and George Will's amusing contempt for the truth about 9/11. All of these claims have two things in common. One, they are untrue. Two, they rely on spurious evidence provided by unsavory characters with an ax to grind against a good man doing great things. Have fun... [The Clark Sphere]

Fiorina quits Cisco board. Chambers draws $1 salary (with $85m share options) [The Register]

Of course, if Chambers' buddy Bush stays in power, capital gains taxes will eventually be a complete thing of the past, making those $85 million in stock options all the more valuable...but I'm sure that's not on his mind at all, right?

Full disclosure - Cisco treats me very, very well. They pay me a lot of money, give me a lot of stock options, and give me great work opportunities. That doesn't make the politics of its CEO any more acceptable to me. He's a major donor to the Republican party, a firm opponent of expensing stock options, and he happily provides backdoors in Cisco networking hardware for the Feds. Oh, and he allows Cisco to provide the guts of the systems that block Chinese, Saudi, and other citizens of oppressive regimes around the world from having full, unbridled access to the Internet. That all kind of pisses me off.

Thanks to Warren Ellis, I've come across some kickass new music - DeathBoy - a British electrogothpunk band. Or something. I like 'em, at least. Their site is kind of overloaded right now - Warren mentioned them in an email to his Bad Signal mailing list, and I think all 5,000 or so of us hit it at once...anyway, I downloaded a few of their albums and plan to order their commercial album later today. Check 'em out.
