Just a quick plug for a great place on the web for checking out new gay & lesbian short fiction: Blithe House Quarterly. Aldo Alvarez runs the site, and I think he's a pretty great author himself. He has a blog here.
Note: I'm not making any money on this plug, I just think that it's a great place to check out some good fiction. And no, I don't know Mr. Alvarez personally.

Did the companies of 100 years ago have CFOs? What were their jobs like back when it was just about making a great product and selling it to people who wanted it? I'm beginning to think that the CFO/CEO position is a creation of greedy executives. Or maybe it's just a different term for a previously-existing position.
Damn, I should have taken a business course in college.

There has been a shift in music media in my life, and I can say that I have completely moved into the realm of MP3s. I listen to them
- At home (at my main PC, or on the WiFi-enabled 3rd PC on the main floor hooked up to the main-floor stereo)
- In my Jeep (Rio portable MP3 player, which interestingly is supposed to play Windows Media files, never tried though)
- At work (right now, Mirwais - Naïve Song)
I'm a little concerned about the persistence of this media, which can now be considered "data". I mean in the days of LPs and cassettes, the only thing that could happen was theft (very bad) or individual mechanism failure ("Oh damn, this tape is hosed"). Now we have hardware failure of a larger scope to think about. Do I back these MP3 files up on a regular basis? No. Do you? I think maybe I should start. I mean, it wouldn't be devastating to lose my collection-- I could eventually replace everything via AudioGrabber and Gnucleus. But maybe taking the time to back everything up to CD-RWs would be worth my time.
It only complicates things with the fact that nearly half of my collection is on a machine that I technically don't even own (@ work).
