Moving update
Tomorrow we are going to be signing papers concerning the purchase of our new house. I'm taking the day off of work to make things easier. It's finally sinking in that this is really happening, and it might even come off disaster-free (you never know, haha). Yesterday we spent most of the day packing things up from the old house ("must reduce clutter" is our new mantra) and moving them into one of those portable-storage things that the storage place picks up after you fill it. And we're only about 10% through the stuff we need to get out of the house. We have too much stuff and I plan to do some severe purging. The homeless patrol that goes through our alley has already come out quite well with the box of shoes we left there yesterday.
On Saturday, we had one last look pre-inspection at the new house. We invited a bunch of friends to show off, er, I mean help us look for any problems with the new house. I was supposed to be there at 1PM, but my haircut went late. I have a barber I trust that was near my old office, and now since I have to work so far away, I have to get my hair cut on the weekend. Well, he was doing a couple when I showed up w/out an appointment (there was no answer when I tried to call earlier). Luckily, the wife or girlfriend heard me (they were both blind) tell my barber that I had to be somewhere and offered to give up her spot to me, and she could get hers cut after me. What a great person she was to do that. I thanked her profusely.
Anyway, I was late regardless, but when I pulled up to the house, it looked like a parking lot! I'm sure the neighbors were a bit concerned that a commune was moving in. Not to mention that a couple of the cars have gay/lesbian stickers on them. LOL The gang loved the house and were very happy for us. I got to dangle my legs into the pool and bounce on the diving board a bit. I had my trunks on, but I felt a little too weird to just dive in-- it's still not our house. Turns out there indeed are horse properties nearby. In fact, we peered over the fence and there was a fine looking horse right there. He turned to look at us in that nonchalant "I'm a horse and I live in the 'burbs" look.
So, I am starting to get excited. Ugh, my husbear just called and told me the storage place wants the portable-storage-thing back by Wednesday. Looks like it's going to be a long day off on Tuesday, as we'll be doing more packing & loading.
