The Move 02: shifting into high gear
I got home yesterday to find business cards from 16 different realtors that were at our house during the walk-through yesterday. A few of the realtors that saw the house yesterday are "old timers" in the Denver area, and those were many were saying it was way underpriced. A confusing factor is that our neighbors house is also for sale, at near our original asking price. But it's only got one bathroom, and very few upgrades, so it's sort of in a different league. Apparently, there was a lot of interest. So, we are listing the house at a full $70K more than our original price.
Our realtor stopped by last night so I could sign the amendment, changing the price. She seemed very nervous. I think it was either because she was afraid we think she's incompetent/clueless, or because of the increased amt of money she'll make if we sell it at the new price (or both). I think I'm starting to trust her a bit more, but I just hope most of the surprises are behind us now.
Anyway, the realtors left us a laundry list of stuff to take care of-- minor painting, cleaning and fixing some of the small appliance problems (ice maker, instant-hot dispenser). I think if we can get most of the list taken care of, we'll be in good shape (and happier when the inspector comes).
The open house is still set for this Sunday.
Here we go!
