N Korea declares nuclear arms goal. Pyongyang announces for the first time that it will develop nuclear weapons, unless the US ends "hostile acts". [BBC News | World | UK Edition]
So within the past week the US announced that it was withdrawing troops from the DMZ zone to something like 90 miles away. This would normally make diplomacy easier, except for how we did it. Because we did it unilaterally, suddenly, in the height of all this tension, the it can easily be viewed my N Korea as moving the troops out of harms way in preperation for an attack. If only we had started down this diplomatic road before calling N Korea inherently evil.

Slashdot: "ABCNews is reporting on a 19-year-old college student at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, N.Y. He created a site named ChewPlastic.com where students could search for files on the university network. Mind you, this is not a music file sharing software, this is just a search engine. Presumably, the search engine was being used to search for music files as well. The folks over at the RIAA did not take too kindly to the idea, and sued the student. He settled but denies any wrongdoing. What was settlement, you ask? His life's savings."
