Re: Bring in the Clones
Last Friday, a group called Clonaid (part of some odd cult that believes in immortality through cloning) announced in Hollywood, FL that they had successfully delivered a live human clone.
I don’t believe it for a second.
First of all…”Clonaid”? Hollywood, Florida? Sounds fishy to begin with.
From what I understand, it isn’t just about replacing the DNA in a developing zygote and, badda-bing, you got a clone. The death rate of clones is up in the high nineties. For reasons nobody understands, their immune systems just don’t work most of the time.
However, no one will ever know if this is real or not. I’m sure, “for the sake of the child”, nobody will ever know her identity or be able to verify that she is, in fact, a clone, and that she lives past the age of one. Not to mention the fact that you don’t have to be a rocket scientist to fake the results of an anonymous DNA test: “This DNA looks just like this DNA. Well, that’s all I need to see.”
However, that won’t stop people from taking it as gospel and decrying the degeneration of Western society or some such.
