I woke up at 1pm this afternoon. I've been having trouble sleeping lately. I figure it's a combination of the warm weather and being between contracts.
I called Conde' Nast to straighten out a magazine subscription. I keep getting a bill for a subscription I've already paid for.
I got through right away to customer service, and explained my problem. I told him that I knew I paid for my subscription, because the charge was on my credit card bill. He read back to me the amount and the date. They already had a record of my payment. I asked why I was still getting payment due notices.
He said that I had a second subscription, under the same name, to the same address, and that one was due. I said I only wanted one subscription, so he said he'd cancel the second subscription, both witout a trace of irony.
What surprised me was that they knew I'd paid, but they just figured I wanted two subscriptions.
