I'm addicted to "America's Next Top Model".
There are three models I love or hate.
Adrianne, who is a totally unselfconscious rocker chick from Joliet, IL with a stoner drawl. She's the only one with what I would call a well-integrated personality. She also likes to piss off Robyn.
Elyse, who is planning to go to medical school and is a dead ringer for Winona Ryder. She thinks she's too brilliant to be there, since she just can't believe the "inane conversations" the other models have with each other. As if she thought she was entering a competition of Rhodes scholars, and not a modeling competition. She's also an atheist, which makes her the natural enemy of Robyn. I think she's learned that nobody cares how smart she is. They don't even care how pretty she is. Just how professional she is, which she needs to work on.
Robin, who is straight-up country-fried princess from the deep south and leader of the group of models I think of as the Christian Right. Everything about her totally annoys me; her irritating drawl and country expressions ("right quick"), her Baptist - "Miss Soybean" - beauty - queen sanctimony, and her inability to think of anyone besides herself. She'll never win, but she doesn't seem to be learning anything, either.
It should be interesting.
I like how it shows how crummy modeling can be. They rounded everyone up and changed their hair, whether they liked it or not. They took Robyn's $1500 hair extensions and threw them out, only to put in some different ones that she hates.
People always like to think that modeling is all glamorous, but it's not (is anything really?). Most of the time you're being criticized on very personal things, and you're basically a commodity; you're only worth as much as your marketabilty. When you're being judged on your physical attributes, that can be really tough.
