Re: Hypocrisy-o-rama
Upon reading about the late segregationist Strom Thurmond's African-American daughter, and Edith Hahn Beer's account of being the Jewish wife of a Nazi officer, (not to mention the many, many stories in a similar vein that float around) I began to think about why people seem to disregard their own sworn ideologies in their personal lives.
I can only think it's because people as a group are easy to dehumanize, while people as individuals are harder to dismiss.
On the other hand...
An ideology won't keep you warm at night. Sort of along the lines of those people who say that "I did not have sex with that woman...except for oral sex. That doesn't count."
