Look Out! They have Intellispeed®

I was just watching TV and saw a commercial for MSN. They claim it is powered by a technology called "Intellispeed".

A quick Google search for the term found me this:

MSN Broadband,** based on Microsoft IntelliSpeed™ technology, is maximized for performance, reliability and ease of use with exclusive software, content and services that make the Web more useful every day. Everything consumers do online can be done more quickly with MSN Broadband, including surfing the Web, loading files, playing online games, sharing digital photographs, enjoying videos and music, and searching for information. MSN Broadband enables consumers to surf the Web without missing phone calls or faxes because it does not require a second phone line. Consumers are always connected to the Internet with an MSN Broadband connection, so they can check e-mail messages or movie listings without dialing up.

MSN advanced IntelliSpeed technology interprets the configuration of the consumer’s system for easy setup of hardware and software. The consumer just inserts the CD and follows simple instructions for quick and easy high-speed Internet access. Technical support is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, at no extra charge. MSN Explorer makes it simple for consumers to access exciting content and services that are designed for optimal broadband performance, and it delivers an exciting Web experience with next-generation applications, streaming media and real-time audio.

Way to say absolutely nothing in just under 200 words! Of course they are on relying on their trailer-trash potential clientele to gloss it all over as "tech talk" and just assume it's some fancy thing that makes the Intenet faster, much like the claims of those old Pentium III commercials.

Microsoft are of course the masters of saying a whole lot of nuthin', as Joel pointed out two years ago after he read the .NET whitepaper.

Hurry Up Already!

Been staring at this for a little over a month now. The good news is that the PC iPods (WinPods?) will supposedly be in Apple Stores tomorrow. Does that mean online orders are shipping too? Joy!
