iPod for Windows - Mini Review
So after waiting a month I finally got my iPod for Windows (WinPod) today. Everyone knows the iPod rocks, it's the best MP3 player on the market, bla bla bla. This is what I think of the Windows version (so far).
It comes in a nice little package all neat an Apple-like. Lacking iTunes, you must use Musicmatch Jukebox (MMJB), which well, sucks ass.
I had a hell of a time getting the initial sync to work. The first few times MMJB would lock up and I had to kill it from the task manager. One other time it locked my entire system up. When I finally got it to start syncing MMJB crashed on me. I figured out after the third try that if it tried to sync one particular song it would crash. Lame.
I finally got it to sync by deleting the suspect song. I was hoping that was the last sync I would ever have to do. Unfortunately I forgot some songs I downl..., er, ripped, and I had to add them. MMJB did a FULL sync again, I have no idea why it didn't just add those songs.
Anyway, in the end all the problems are with MMJB, not the iPod. This is my unit. That snazzy blue thing is the Aqua Jam Jacket available at everythingipod.com. It's actually a cheap clone of the Groove Jacket. The company that makes the Groove Jacket put up a web page warning how the AJJ is a cheap rip-off. Screw you, Sumi told me to buy it so kiss my ass.
Bottom line, iPod good. Musicmatch bad. 10:48:38 PM |
