Britney sez, "Don't steal mah music" -- Justin sez, "I hit that"
Britney, Nelly, and some other shitty pop stars will soon be in TV ads begging us not to steal their music. Here's what Miss Spears has to say:
"Would you go into a CD store and steal a CD? It's the same thing, people going into the computers and logging on and stealing our music."
Well of course I wouldn't go into a CD store and steal music you dumb fuck. The risk of getting busted by some 37-year old failed musician named Tarak is too humiliating to fathom. Hey, why should I buy your CD for $18 when it has at best 2 good songs which I can download in 5-minutes for free? Work with me here babe.
John Dvorak has a pretty good rant on the subject in this month's PC Magazine:
It's a matter of competition. A manufactured CD for $1.40 can compete with a bootleg copy: Manufactured CDs generally play better and come with nice packages and liner notes. The industry can still make millions of dollars, just not billions. And many artists can go back to making money the old-fashioned way—by working harder and performing more. Things change, folks! The gravy train has left the station.
Right on!
In related pop star news, my mentor, the evil Star got Justin Timberlake to admit he 'did it' with Britney. I could really care less but Star gets my respect for conning Timberlake in return for playing his new single 30-times a week. Hey, you have to love a DJ on a hip-hop station who plays Rush all the time. 9:14:12 PM | |
