Why Last Night's Sopranos Rocked
1 - Die mother fucker, die mother fucker, die
Goodbye Ralph. We won't miss you. They made us hate your character to the point I would have probably killed Joe Pantoliano if I saw him walking down the street. A lot of people seem sad the dynamic he brought to the show is gone. I for one could care less.
2 - Fresh meat
Tony has a thing about meat. Last season (?) Tony's meat issues were traced back to his father and a shakedown on a butcher. At what point of the argument does Tony throw a punch at Ralph? After Ralph asks Tony if he is a vegetarian and points out that Tony eats a lot of meat.
3 - She was innocent
As Tony is choking Ralph to death he says something like, "She was innocent -- and you killed her". Who? The horse or the stripper Ralph killed last season? Not to mention in the last scene Tony gazes at a picture of said stripper posted in the 'Bing.
4 - Karma
Last week the assemblyman gently broke it to Tony he was seeing his (Tony's) ex. Tony took it well then later took it out violently on the assemblyman. Tony gently broke it to Ralph he was seeing his ex. Ralph ends up burning Tony's horse. I am glad that stupid belt scene from last week was for a reason.
5 - Hidden satanic lyrics
Sprinkled throughout the dialog was the lyrics for Sympathy for the Devil. The most obvious part was when Ralph was talking to the priest. Were you around when Jesus Christ had his moment of doubt and pain?. So is Ralph the devil and we were supposed to have sympathy for him because of his son?
All in all, great episode for a below-average season. Let's hope it all heats up from here. 6:52:14 PM |
