This Man is Not Cool Slate published a nice piece today regarding Xbox Live and how the Xbox's luke-warm reception is in part due to Microsoft's un-cool aura. If Sony is your cool college-aged cousin, then Microsoft is the trying-too-hard uncle who mistakenly thinks his tale of attending a Rush concert in 1980 will earn your admiration. Ouch. Anyway, Microsoft is in it for the long haul with the Xbox. So regardless of how un-hip it is, or how bad it stinks up the gaming industry, it is guaranteed to be kept afloat by Bill's deep pockets. The "Silent Bob" trench coat mullet nerd: Tries to look intimidating but ends up just looking stupid as he clumsily trips over his trench coat. Usually has shaving scars and a patchy, random-ass beard because he can't grow facial hair. Thinks he's the character "Silent Bob" from the movie Clerks. Pretends to be above it when other nerds laugh at nerd jokes, secretly goes home and cries himself to sleep. Conspiracy Corner I posted this at Scott Rosenberg's yesterday. Bin Laden was captured by the US last year. Announcing his capture would have a) launched many small attacks from Islamic terrorists against the US and it's interests or b) put the "war on terrorism" on the back burner in the minds of US citizens. This "tape" is an attempt by our government to rekindle support for Bush and TWoT. Why does Bin Laden sound so different on the tape? Because he has been going through a routine of torture and sleep deprivation for the past 12 months. Conveniently in 2004, a couple of months before the election, Son of a Bush’s troops will "capture" Bin Laden just in time to get re-elected. Who's with me!
