Hopeweavings!?
As of this writing, Gnosis has gotten 73 referrals from various searches for Hopeweavings. That's more than the total traffic that Gnosis usually gets in a day. My fear is that someone is sending poems like this around the Internet mistakenly believing them to be real:
Opened my eyes to the sunrise
I can smell oatmeal and toast and juice
My favorites!
The sun's rays stream through my window
Taking away the darkness
The branches that scratched against my window all night
Are warmed in the sun's heat
Wasn't I silly to ever doubt or fear?
Mom is bringing my breakfast tray up to my room
There's oatmeal and toast
And juice!
Thank you, God, for this brand-new day
Another day to weave a new tapestry of hope.
Based on some of the things that show up in my inbox, I wouldn't be surprised.

Have You Been in the New York Times?
Our friend Stephannie (yes, that's two n's) got a mention in today's New York Times, right next to people like Sandra Bullock, Hugh Grant, and Natalie Portman. Congratulations, Stephannie.
It's unfortunate, though, that the mention is in conjunction with a woman who took part in mistakenly ruining the lives of five young men. But fame is a fickle mistress, or something like that.

Are Crackers Attacking Television Now?
My wife pointed out that episode 404 of Mr. Show was broadcast on AT&T cable in Utah instead of local station KSL's morning news, and no one knows how such a thing could happen. KSL is unlikely to have episodes of Mr. Show lying around (the problem couldn't have originated with KSL anyway, since the problem only occurred on one cable system), and AT&T claims that it doesn't have the technical means to make such a mistake. Is someone cracking television and cable signals? By the way, that episode of Mr. Show is scheduled to be broadcast on HBO2 on January 15th. Maybe AT&T customers in Utah will get KSL's morning news in that slot instead.

What the Hell Is Wrong With Salon's Radio Community Server?
Increasingly, I've been finding requests for referer rankings for Gnosis refused, Gnosis loading without comments, or Gnosis loading slowly while waiting for comments from rcs.salon.com. It has been getting more and more frustrating, and I can't understand why it's happening. It can't be that the Salon Weblog community generates that much traffic. This error message suggests that the server is running on Windows. Could that be the problem?
