My idea for a chaord is to link providers of holistic health. Chiropractors, herbalists, homeopaths, nutritionists, energy healers, rolfers, etc. I have always been fascinated by these types of healing and have been a client of many of them, sometimes out of curiousity sometimes out of need. I have had the usual issues with regular MDs, whom I'll call allopaths: they just treat the symptoms, too expensive, only good for acute illnesses, not useful for chronic problems, etc.
One thing that is missing from holistic health is a directory service. In allopathic medicine, you go to a general practitioner (family doctor) and she tells you that you have this problem or that and sends you off to a "specialist." In holistic health, people do not specialize, they are all treating the whole person (thus holistic). But there are so many types of holistic health. Which is best in which circumstance?? As far as I can tell, no one knows. We need either the equivalent of the family doctor, who can point people to the right holistic practitioner, or maybe even a Website would help to figure out what therapy is best for a particular person at a particular time in their life.
But I'm getting ahead of myself. I want to set up a chaordic organization of holistic health practitioners. I want to do it because I think society will benefit and I will to. More on that later.
