Chaords Everywhere I Look
Chaords are a cross between chaos and order. They describe my life and my philosophy (at the present).

A question is, am I the person to pull this off? Harlan Cleveland writes about the get-it-together profession. He says that people start out as specialists (engineers, accountants, whatever) and eventually some of them graduate into a generalist societal leader. People who are no longer associated with one profession but instead are cross-discipline and are focused more on the in-between of the professions, the stuff that's missing or too new to be developed.

When I read that I realized that this was kind of what I did when my previous company failed and I started my independent practice. But then I also was hit with the fact that I'm a pretty damn little cheesy wet-behind-the-ears doofus to be thinking I could make this leap. Let's see how it works out. The holistic health chaord will be a good test.

My current fav blog? (As if you care.) Mirandala 2.0. Heavily linked, pics, done by an avowed non-techie.

The chaord's main purpose is a gathering place for ideas, thoughts and interactions for holistic health practitioners. It is not a government lobby group, although that might be a side project undertaken. It is not only an "association" to network with other people. It is not a for-profit corporation, nor is it a non-profit that depends on donations from gracious benefactors.

Surprisingly, I've already had some holistic practitioners read this blog and ask to participate. The idea hasn't even fully formed in my head yet, but that's okay. I think.

Maybe the first meeting is a 2 hour deal over lunchtime on a weekday. The practitioners come together for a healthy lunch (probablys lots of vegetarians) and we have several speakers. Most of the speakers are potential suppliers to the holistic practitioners:  marketing consultant, attorney, accountant, insurance agent, technology consultant, sales consultant, etc. Maybe they each do a little speech and then sit down to form a panel. Then people can throw out questions for a few minutes. Then, as a windup, get a feeling for who would like to do this again. Keep it informal, but if the interest is high, create another meeting in a month and have more speakers. Gradually push the planning and decision making out to the participants, until they are self-organizing. Then begin forming it into a chaordic organization, with purpose, principles clearly stated and articulated by the (by that time) owning members.

Or should I put it into chaordic form earlier in the lifecycle?
