Chapter 13: Detention with Dolores

Hermione starts knitting clothes to free the house-elves in the castle.

The students have their first Care of Magical Creatures class with Professor Grubbly-Plank. She won’t answer questions about Hagrid. The students learn about bowtruckles.

Going to detention, Harry has to miss the Quidditch try-outs. His detention is to write "I must not tell lies" over and over. The magical pen makes the phrase be carved into the back of his hand, which starts bleeding. He has a whole week of that to look forward to.

Ron is being evasive about where he is going at nights. It turns out he is trying out for the Quidditch team - and he gets the position of keeper.
