Chapter 9: The Woes of Mrs Weasley

Mr Weasley takes Harry back to Grimmaud Place before heading off to investigate some exploding toilets. As they leave the Ministry, they run into Lucius Malfoy who harasses and insults them in the usual manner. It is noteworthy and suspicious to Mr Weasley that Malfoy is meeting with Fudge at the Ministry.

They all celebrate the win but Harry is discouraged by Sirius’ growing moodiness. Mrs Weasley puts it down to Sirius being confused about whether Harry is his godson or his best friend James Potter come back.

Letters arrive to announce that both Ron and Hermione have been made the Gryffindor fifth-year prefects. Harry has not and everybody is confused. Mrs Weasley promises to buy Ron a present of congratulations and he chooses the best broom he thinks they can afford, the new Cleansweep model. Harry battles with conscience over his feelings about Ron being made a prefect over him.

Fred and George buy some illicit substances for their Skiving Snackboxes from Mundungus.

Mad-Eye Moody shows Harry an old photo of a group of wizards and witches from the Order. Many of them have died in its service.
