And why we are still a people adrift, listening for authoritative voices coming from unlikely places: Does fat make you fat? Does sugar? Do all CEOs lie? Does the president lie? What's in your suitcase? Have any of your bags been out of your possession? Did we check all the caves in Afghanistan?
Writing for The Washington Post, Hank Stuever discusses the semiotics of the Parkay tub, a symbol of distrust and liying. As he explains, margarine has a history of paranoia attached to it: "At the turn of the century, the American dairy industry lobbied against faux butter and got laws passed demanding that margarine be labeled as such — no lies! no tricks!" Parkay introduced its classic ads during the Watergate era, when everybody was watching out for the liars. And now the campaign has been taken out from the mothballs.

Activated the My Pictures Tool and upstreamed the PopPolitcs logo. Huh, it worked! Had to fiddle with the default settings though: set the source folder to be inside "Mis documentos\Mis imágenes" and the destination folder to be the "www" folder inside "Archivos de programa\Radio UserLand". The UserLand software probably needs to use standard Windows Registry variables to look for the right defaults, even in non-English versions of Windows.
