And I did something that I had been thinking about for a long time: I deleted all the subscriptions from my RSS aggregator. So what?, you may say. Well, first, I never read anything through it, so what's the point of using bandwith on downloading the feeds? Second, there are no feeds from the websites I frequent. And third, I like to think that actively going to those websites and weblogs I frequent offers a feeling of serendipituous discovery. Besides, if I find something there I'd like to post to my log, at least having to select a quote to cut and paste is an act of interaction with the original source, a chance to interpret it and maybe find something interesting to say about it.
But, hey, it's not like I'm telling you to do the same.
Maybe I'll adress the contradiction that I still publish a RSS feed sometime.

Hey Buddy, PayPal Me a Quarter? By Amit Asaravala September 5, 2002
Panhandlers hit the Web to raise money for their personal causes like paying off credit cards, leaving a spouse or making a movie. Unbelievably, it's working.
Yup, some people have turned to begging for money on the "Information Highway." One of them is Karyn Bosnak, who couldn't afford to live her Sex and the City fantasies and is asking people to help her keep the debt collectors at bay.
This reminded me of that New Yorker cartoon, "What's to prevent some total stranger anywhere in the world from paying my bills?" Nothing, it seems. Just sign up for a PayPal account, add their box to your homepage and wait for the alms to flow in.
Hmm... Maybe I should try that myself.
