Seems like my Hefner posts have been noticed up-wind. But (having performed a bit of research) I'd like to point out that Salon Blogs' own Cowgirl had already reported on the change of the guard at the bunny rag. A whole month ago:

maximum playboy

today's MediaNews features a couple stories on Playboy's new editorial director in chief, James Kaminsky, lured away from uber-competitor Maxim to resuscitate Hef's flailing publication.

apparently, Playboy ad pages have sunk 14% in the last eight months, with lad-mags like Maxim and FHM kicking Hefner's rear-end at the newsstands.

Kaminsky says that in his noo-Playboy, every page will have "something for readers to glom on to." plus, he's the cousin of Mel Brooks.

Over at xtcian ("In which Certain Events that happen to Ian end up as Compelling Words designed to Entertain all Comers"), Ian Williams mentions Driver 8 in the same breath as the Reverse Cowgirl's blog as examples of weblogs that make him "look tender and virgin by comparison."

Now-now, Ian. Standing beside Susannah, a lot of weblogging geeks like yours truly look innocent. But I'm somewhat surprised to be written of at the same time as the Cowgirl. At this pace, someone will mention Driver 8 in the same sentence as Radio Free Blogistan, or even Scott Rosenberg. Honestly! I might even end up mentioned in MSNBC's Weblog Central.

Yeah, right.

And now, a word from our referrers:

Tortas los Picudos, a great place for tortas cubanas.

bingogen, an application to generate bingo cards for Buzzword Bingo.

Jason Leopold, stalwart Enron fighter. Is he this year's Stephen Glass?

"Imagine being able to change into anyone else, to live out their fantasies, to taste their lust. Tori Welles is just such a creature, a sexuallly ravenous woman with a mysterious ability to become someone else, to become The Chameleon." But where do they sell this movie in NYC?
