Thanks to Daypop, we can keep track of what the blogsphere's saying about Adult Swim.
- Chris Puzak says in Distorting the Medium that he's really, really excited about the upcoming Adult Swim DVDs.
I think all of these DVDs are worth buying, although I'm most excited about Space Ghost and Sealab 2021.
- Vamsi Nath hopes for a brighter future for Futurama (currently on the Adult Swim roster) at Vamsi.net.
...Futurama fans, support the show by buying the excellent season DVDs as they become available and tune into Cartoon Network to see Futurama on their Adult Swim lineup. Here's hoping another network has the good sense to pick up the show and give it life again...
- Matt Haughey considers 11PM to 12AM on weeknights on Cartoon Network the "Best hour of daily TV today." At A Whole Lotta Nothing.
This article on cartoon shows beating late night TV talkshows for the 18-24 demo doesn't surprise me at all. Among my friends, it seems like everyone passed along the secret of Adult Swim on the cartoon network to each other. Ever since I found out the family guy and futurama are on every night, I've been watching them religiously. Perhaps they'll spark new development deals for both shows, so we can see new episodes.
- Kevin is pissed off with some recent programming changes. He lets steam off at Welcome to my underground lair.
...Cartoon Network took Cowboy Bebop off Adult Swim and replaced it with that fucking Lupin III, never in my life have I hated any show as much as I hate Lupin III, and not just because it replaced Cowboy Bebop, I just hate Lupin III, it's horrible.
Finally, this bit from Jim Treacher (I Know My First Name Is Jim), which wasn't found via Daypop but which I had to mention since he seems to share my own views about Harvey Birdman, Attorney at Law:
Speaking of not dating and stupid superhero crap, am I alone in thinking the new episodes of Harvey Birdman: Attorney at Law are aggressively unfunny? The one this past week, the Flintstones/Sopranos deal, that had a few clever moments. But that's about as funny as it's been. Anvils thudding left and right for the whole show, every show. Now, the first episode, with the custody battle between Dr. Quest and Race Bannon over Jonny and Haji, that was hilarious. There were a few gags that didn't really make it, but overall it was one of the funniest things Williams Street put out last year. These new ones, though... the pacing's all off, they're trying to wacky things up until it just wearies you, everybody's loudly babbling pointless non-jokes at a breakneck pace, and there's a sort of desperation about it all. Even Stephen Colbert can't save this shit. Hell, it's not even as funny as the original '60s Birdman episodes that Cartoon Network's been showing early mornings on the weekends. (Thanks, Tivo!)
Screw Harvey Birdman, you guys, and start making some new episodes of Aqua Teen Hunger Force. Meatwad is tuff.
