gay marriage gay marriage gay marriage

I did have two non-Survivor posts mid week, but my PC ate them. Ugh. No time to try to recreate them now.

But I was thrilled to see the gay marriage thing continue to spread, and the wonderful Seattle Stranger staying on top of it.

More this weekend, hopefully. I'm staying in Chicago, so that means and extra nine hours, roughly, not running to/from/on planes.

So I can blog! Or write. Hopefully. Notice how I disassociate the two. That's retarded.

Survivor All Stars -- Jerri Manthey: how was she so Satanic, exactly?

Hmmmmm. What was it that I despised so badly about Jerri her first season?

She's getting annoying again, but a far cry from Satanic. I really had no problem referring to her that first season as Satan. This year it's quite a stretch. I remember how intently she used to curdle my blood, I just can't remember quite how.

Hmmmmm. I seem to recall her arrogance and complete lack of self-knowledge to be a part of it. That incident at the council tonight was revealing. She actually listed moralle-builder and spirit of positivity among her key strengths. The funny part was that the jaws were dropping all around her, Ethan was openly turning arround to exchange stunned laughs with the row behind him, and she appeared as oblivous to that as she was to the reactions she had been provoking her entire stay.

I seem to recall that being my chief complaint last time. Not only was she a total dick, she had no idea she was being a dick. She sees the world entirely from her own point of view, never even stops to consider how her behavior may be affecting anyone else. She is her entire universe.

One fresh, and fascinating insight into her came from Shii Ann tonight: Jerri will only work on a task someone has already started. That's pretty interesting. And unusal. I think. I don't recall ever being annoyed by someone doing that, but maybe I just never noticed. What an odd condition, though. And how annoying: someone who never does shit in general, but then the one time they are willing to contribute is only when they can deprive you of something you've already gotten into a rhythum doing, maybe were actually starting to enjoy. And/or she picks a moment when she can jump in and correct you--here's how you're doing it wrong: I'll make a small contribution now, in order to show you what a fuckup you are.

The worst of all possible worlds. Wow, I'm wonderful if there area all sorts of people like that running around. I'll have to start looking for them.

Survivor All Stars -- Colby Donaldson's very big head, but not so big brain, reaches down and around to bite himself in the ass

Colby started the season as my #2 choice to win. I really liked the guy, and not just to look at him. Man, did he take a steady ride downhill. No one horrible thing, just lots and lots of little ones. He really is kinda stuck on himself, isn't he?

And I'm tired of him bitching our my wonderful Shii Ann.

I loved it when she said the two of them both lacked respect for each other's games, but she wasn't stupid enough to tell him. And tonight, he reaped the fruit of that stupidity.

He would be alive and well tonight if he had not told her off. What the hell was he thinking? What did he have to gain by it? Nothing: he just thought he was so damn good he could go around telling people off and making enemies because he was Colby, nobody was ever going to vote him off.

It's interesting to watch the reactions of the ones who were never vote off before--although it's something of a stretch for him to put himself in that category; it's completely arbitrary that the final vote is for rather than against, yet he seems to have chosen to believe all this time that they did not vote against him, they merely voted for Tina. Whatever keeeps your head fat.

I was rooting all night for him to go. I figured from the start it was him or Ethan. I was expecting Jerri to rally the votes against him, but thrilled to see that alien Lex step up to the plate.

I pretty much figured one of the prettyboy athletes was due, and once they dumped one they would keep the other. Too scary to dump all their athletic ability. The merge might be close, but they never know what twists Burnett might have ahead.

Huh. They might still dump Ethan. But I do believe the chances of him going were much higher both of them on the team. And I'm really rooting for Ethan this season--and enjoying looking at him. And it's kind of fascinating to watch them slow-torture him. I shudder to admit that. OK, how's this: it's fascinating to watch him respond to their slow torture. That's actually more accurate, as well as sounding much less sick.

I was jumping up and down when Colby's third card flipped up. Jerri has again revealed her true semi-satanic nature, but Colby was dead right that she can never win. They can get rid of her anytime. Colby had the power--to win challenges and to call for ousters. He had to go when they had the chance.

And I doubt anyone in Survivor history has ever been so happy to see their vote fail as Ethan must have been to watch his chief rival voted out.

At least I hope he was smart enough to see Colby for the rival he was. Colby ordered the team to select him for the explicit purpose of eliminating him--but then quickly forgot that, and chose two different people for elimination first. That's one of the things that annoyed me about him, actually. He ordered the team to do one thing, then issued two contradictory orders in a row. Power-hungry jerk. Power-hungry and scatter-brained, not a great combination.

Seems like once he got close to his rival, he felt a sudden kinship. Really seemed to lie around in the shelter side by side with his fellow stud plotting the demise of their inferiors.

I'm glad he's gone.

Survivor All Stars -- Comment Open Thread for Episode 7, March 11

OK, I'm back and better than ever. (Aside from a little heartbreak Tuesday night, but I've over that guy. Or will be soon. Never got very far, just one and a half dates--all things must pass, and some things pass really fast.)

The point is, I'm getting my head cleared, really up for a little distraction from my life in Survivor tonight. Got the VCR set to go (still don't have a Tivo in Chicago), and prepared to post tonight. I have a workout till around 8, so it may be a little late, but I'll be here.

Meantime, don't wait for me. Jump right in any time you're ready.
