Just four hours from the next Race installment. Last week was a lot less nervewracking, what with our heroes stumbling into the fastforward. But it was nice for me to see the show still had me going regardless. I was jumping up and down rooting for that engaged couple to beat the nasty virgins.
I have to say, the virgins partially redeemed themselves the next morning on The Early Show. The little hellcat was pleasant the whole time and copped to some of her behavior. She said the race really stresses you out and can make you nastier than you normally are, which I can buy to a point. But then they launched into the denial. She still thinks they should get married. It was just the race that made them act that way. Good lord. And what about the twelve years of indecision before that? Not to mention, stress or not, they were completely mismatched. They are just horrible for each other, exactly the wrong thing for each other. How many people in life get to see themselves taped and have it all right before them to make the decision so easy for them. What will it take?
And then the funny part of the show: So with that Harry Smith was all surprised, and said, oh really, so you are going to get married? And he turns to the werewolf, and he's suddenly all bumbly: I don't know what you looking at me for I can't decide don't ask me! He's a trip. She needs to just order him to the altar, or it's just not going to happen. And that will set the perfect tone for the rest of the loveless marriage.
I do think it's legitimate to ask, though: Is he gay, or does he just have an incredibly low sex drive? It seems like the only reasonable explanation for a guy to key himself celibate for 12 years (plus whatever came before the relationship), with a woman who drives him batty. She's hanging in there cause she seems to think he'll get off the can eventually, but what's he getting out of it, aside from blueballs? Cover, is the one thing I can see, if he's got a little problem he can't bring himself to face. Either that or he just enjoys torturing himself, both sexually and emotionally.
It was really nice to see Chip & Reichen feeding the orangtans, though (and listening to Jon try to pronounce it, and his fiance laugh at him, and him laugh at himself when he discovered what the word was). Chip and Reichen holding the little apes' hands, that was too cool. Sweet guys. They better win this thing.
Not tonight, though. I'd lay heavy money it's a nonelimination round.
