Own Horn--Tooted
An exceptionally perceptive and intelligent Letter to the Editor was published in the local paper. It seems clear to me that the author is remarkable in nearly every way. In fact, we apparently agree on everything.

Blaming Kaptur for job market is silly

It is interesting that Larry Kaczala cites the poor state of the job market in northwest Ohio as a reason to vote against Rep. Marcy Kaptur in November. With Republicans in control of both the executive and legislative branches at the state and federal level, "disingenuous" may be the most polite term for Mr. Kaczala's statement.

Blaming one congresswoman from the minority party for a difficult employment environment is just silly.

Interesting too is Mr. Kaczala's reminding voters that his parents were UAW members when the Bush Administration's open hostility to unions is well-known, and its support for the rights of non-union workers is nearly nonexistent. Only a few months ago Senate Democrats managed to halt the White House's attempt to eliminate the rights of millions of workers to overtime pay.

If Mr. Kaczala really wants to help the workers of northwest Ohio, he should change his party affiliation to the Democrats. Though I'm sure that many Lucas County Democrats were overjoyed to see Mr. Kaczala using the front page of The Blade to remind the voters of the best reason to vote against President Bush in November - the lousy economy.

DOUGLAS JOHNSON Willys Parkway

Unsurprisingly, it's not the first time this enterprising young man has appeared prominently in the local paper. He is apparently a well-known, local Hellenophile.
