A real Planes, Trains and Automobiles kind of weekend. After attending a weekend Aikido course, I left Shepreth station to head for London and on to Southampton. What, between industrial action and engineering works, I'm suprised I actually made it, but I got thre in the end. The last leg of the journey (from Southampton airport parkway to Southampton itself) was conducted by coach, the driver of which had a compilation tape with The Village People's "YMCA" on it twice. Short of a big sign by the road that says "Welcome To Studentsville!" you couldn't be less subltle.
Anyway, I was in Southampton to see a friend and have a quick look around the University while I was there. We got to crash the Society for Experimental Biology's conference, which has to have the lowest crash-points rating going. I mean, you manage to crash to Brits or blag your way into a top nightclub, you get lots of crash-points. No-one seems particularly interested that I managed to get a free cup of coffee from the SEB, though.
An interesting thought, though: could maybe think about investigating their research into computer-based learning. Seemingly there's maybe a PhD in it, which is an interesting thought.
