So, the whole teaching thing, then. I got hired at the last minute (c'mon, you don't get real teachers for £200 a week...) to go and teach memory techniques to children at an educational field studies centre (Kingswood, "Camp Beumont") on the Isle of Wight. Thge course was very well prepared so I was able to simply step in and start teaching, although we had to make some adjustments to the course as we went along. All in all, not a bad first teaching job, and if nothing else I've certainly learned a lot about mind mapping / memory techniques, evenif the children haven't!

I would just like to reiterate, though, that the food there really is bad.

Okay. I'm back. At last. Phew. I must be getting old - after a week or so on travelling around the Parts Forign (including such exotic locations as The Isle of Wight and Norwich), I've never been so glad to get back to Cambridge. This isn't, actually, anything much to do with the locations themselves, just the stuff that goes with them. The food on the Isle of Wight was horrid, barley edible. All the beds everywhere were too short - I'm fed up of sleeping with my feet poking out of the end. All the cars I've been in were cramped - why do people seem to like cars so much when you can't move around inside the damn things?
