I practice Aikido on a regular basis (take a look at the Aikido Journal and the Aikido FAQ for more general information), a modern Japanese martial art. It involves practice at open-hand techniques as well as with Jo (a short wooden staff) and Boken (a wooden version of the Ken, the traditional-style Japanese sword). I currently belong to the Traditional Aikido Iwama Ryu Great Britain organisation, a member organisation of the British Aikido Board, and train at both the Cambridge and Orwell clubs. I started Aikido at the University of Reading Aikido Club (part of the Institiute of Aikido organisation), and trained there for a year (1999 / 2000). I've been training in Cambridge / Orwell since Autumn of 2000 - I currently train at Cambridge on Monday evenings and at Orwell on Wednesday and Thursday evenings, plus Thursday mornings if Sensei is teaching.
