IDIOT SPAM -

While I normally hate spam (the electronic kind) This one seemed too stupid to pass up. "Your Potential Account Will be DELETED"

OhmiGod! Not my potential account! But there it was - fair warning. Except that I wasn't sure which word to emphasize. Was this an account that was going to be deleted before it even opened (would that make it an account abortion?) or did it mean that whatever potential I might have left was in an account(in a smallish envelope in the back of one of the lower file drawers) and someone was about to delete it (or, at least, potentially delete it). Nothing to do but open it up and see.

"As promised (as promised?), we reserved your position in our program. If you have already confirmed your position use the REMOVAL link the bottom of this email.

"We're holding your spot and we have people who are waiting to be placed under you (I can think of a couple people I'd like to have under me). You need to confirm right away if you have not done so already. We'll notify you when you have a comission check waiting.- Yeah. And I'll sit right here by the computer until they do.

"Remember, you make money every time someone we placed under you makes a purchase. So go right now- before you do anything else! Right after I'm finished balancing my tires and regrouting the tub. That'll be the very next thing.

"If you are no longer interested in turning your computer into a cash cow, PLEASE REMOVE YOURSELF below so we can place all these people under someone else who is ready.

Chris Tinney Webmaster 209-966-7126"

Now there's a couple things I want to discuss. First - no, I certainly do NOT want to turn my computer into a cash cow (nor a dogcow as old Mac users may recall). I want it to stay a computer.

Second, this is my email account. Why should I REMOVE MYSELF, even if he did say please?

Third, exactly which people are waiting to be placed under me? Do I know any of these people? Are any of them Ann Coulter? I think I have a right to know, not to mention a responsibility.

I thought about calling the alleged Chris Tinney ("Webmaster") and suggesting the he/she remove him/herself instead, but area code 209 is probably some off shore drilling rig that charges $500 per minute. At the end of the letetr, they inform me that it was sent from my "friends at Sparkling Offers". That fact of the matter is that I don't have any friends at Sparkling Offers. Never have had. Hope I never do.

This is truly Idiot Spam because only a true idiot would respond. The scary thing is that it must work because there is so much Idiot Spam out there.
