Mennonites on Crack -

What is the world coming to? Cleveland Police busted four Mennonite men for trying to sell $300,000 worth of cocaine. The newspaper story said the men were from Mexico (Mexican Mennonites? Named Isaak, Henrich, Frank and Cornelius??) and tried to smuggle the drugs under the hood of their car. What's next - Amish terrorists?

White Trash on Crack?

BMW films.com is starting it's second season of short films dedicated to showing BMW's driven outrageously, escaping from all manner of bad guys. There's not room in a six minute film for a lot of plot, but they're fun to watch.

They haven't scripmed on the talent, either. There are films directed by Ridley Scott, Tom Scott, John Frankenheimer, John Woo and Ang Lee. Guy Ritchie directs one called "Star" which features a snotty blond singer who may or may not be Madonna, and who cheerfully plays the part of a diva-bitch. Check out the film by Academy Award winning diector of "Amores Perros", Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu - a tense paranoid escape from Latin American military. And don't miss James Brown trying re-sell his soul to devil Gary Oldham.

There are trailers and director commentaries as well. As BMW advertising, it seems a strange approach. These are really nothing more than car chases featuring BMW's, but still, interesting bits of mini-cinema from famous directors.
