What's even more depressing than the item below this, is that our "President" is going to take us into war against a third-rate nation and against the wishes of the majority of the population of this country. The Constitution gives Congress the responsibility to declare war, but Presidents since Truman have circumvented that with ease.

But has there been an administration since Nixon's which evidences such blatant disregard for the fundamental rights that are uniquely American? They don't even bother with deniability. It's more "Yeah, we did it. We're fighting terrorism - you got something against that?" That excuses anonymous detentions, surveillance and cautions against "unpatriotic" speech.

If Saddam hadn't tried to off the "President's" daddy, would we be "at war" with Iraq anyway? It's true that Saddam is a genocidal barbarian, but that doesn't make him much different from 8 or 10 others with whom we are not at war.

This is depressing. I weighed myself at work last night about 11pm. I ate a banana, drank a diet pepsi and weighed myself this morning at 7am. I gained two pounds. What the hell would have happened if I'd had a dozen wings?
