Is there anyone left among my circle of friends and coworkers who does not know that I will be in Hawaii in a week? I've tried to stay cool about it, no big deal, ya know? I haven't been successful, however, as I've only, mentioned every single day for the past two weeks minimum and probably the past month. I'm actually pretty pumped up about it.

First, and most important, I get to see my older daughter who I haven't seen since last August and my son-in-law who I haven't seen since he was the "fiancé". This is the longest I've been away from Sue since she was born and I'm eager to hang-out with her for awhile. Of next importance, is that I will be getting away from goddamned Ohio and snow and freezing-ass cold! Ohio in late May and early June is as good as anyplace on Earth. Right now, though, I'm wondering why I ever moved back.

I've been reading guidebooks since before Labor Day and almost memorized the Oahu map. I've got places in mind that I want to see, hikes to take, swimming and snorkeling and I want to eat some Portuguese bean soup. I booked a whale watching cruise for the three of us that also includes swimming with dolphins and seeing sea turtles. If I only get to do half the things I want to do it will be great!

I will return with stories and pictures and probably a not-so-insane desire to move there next month. Reality will set in soon enough, though and I'll be back at the ED grind before I have time to blink. But from now until next Wednesday, I'll be taking the trip in my head. And until then, I promise to not be any more obnoxious around my co-workers than absolutely necessary
