Not because I was immensely dissatisfied with Radio, just because TypePad is the better service. That, and Robb's Law: I don't want to have a weblog (any website really) on a domain that I don't own.

I'd very much hesitate to call my blog bilingual tho. On the other hand, if I keep commenting on mentions in other people's blogs in the language they mention me, I might as well continue writing in English. And on yet another hand: what would make a blog "deserving of traffic"?
From what the referers tell me I got mentioned on rebelutionary, Scott Rosenberg's Links & Comment, Ob·jec·tive ("the only dutch link you'll see on this blog") and--it gets better every day--on the reverse cowgirl's blog ("in her final tit move, the very next day, Veronique went and got her boobsies ultrasounded, along with a camera crew, possibly to check for implants, possibly to see if there was a fetus in there"--whee!).
I'm fairly chortling with glee. And all that for having mentioned Veronique De Kock and her naked bazongas once. Well, OK, more than once since last week.
One of these days I'll get a call from a lawyer, I swear. Might even be a call to enquire if our company would be interested in making Veronique a website. Yeah, that'll be the day.

Problemen met Telenet opgelost. 't Was, zegt de helpdesk mij, wellicht een combinatie van verschillende dingen: een paar IP-nummers hadden toegang tot alles behalve surfen (yeah right, "een paar" - ik vertaal dat als "de helft van ons netwerk"), er zijn een aantal problemen met Windows-updates (uh huh), en best van al: het automatische proxydingesscript werkt niet altijd goed.
Enfin, 't was een verward verhaal: op de helpdesk-site staat dat het configuratiescript op http://pac.telenet.be:8080 staat. Blijkt dat het daar wel staat, maar "eigenlijk vaak beter werkt" op http://pac.pandora.be:8080. En o ja: voor XP zet je de automatische configuratie best af en vul je best manueel de proxy in (proxy.telenet.be, poort 8080).
En als dat niet werkt, waarschijnlijk proxy.pandora.be:8080 zeker? Zucht.
Wel grappig hoe snel iemand door de voorbereide scripts van een helpdeskmedewerker geraakt:
- Ik: "ik kan niet meer surfen"
- Helpdesk: "kunt u naar het startmenu gaan en..."
- Ik: "wat wil u weten?"
- Helpdesk: "De versie van Windows?"
- Ik: "Windows 2000 Advanced Server. Ik kan pingen naar telenet, DNS werkt ook nog, maar http en mail lukken niet meer. Vanmorgen vond ipconfig ook geen DHCP-server maar dat is vannamiddag opgelost geraakt."
En van daar af ging het al allemaal veel vlotter. Ik heb soms medelijden met die mensen aan de helpdesk.

Handig, een lijst van WYSIWYG editors-over-het-web. Zoals Mike Cannon-Brookes zegt: Useful list. It seems to me that if you're not using IE, you're screwed basically.

Bon goed. Ik ga nog wat medicamenten gaan slikken.
Pillen tegen de hoofdpijn, antibiotica tegen de koorts, doorslikken met cola light, en dan een slok Maalox tegen het maagzuur. Nog een geluk dat ik de snotterfase voorbij ben en dat de slijmen nu mooi groen en vast zijn. Wel spijtig van de hoofdpijn.

Ik geef hem anders graag de source van mijn webblogapplicatie in ColdFusion MX, met CFC's en XML en post-to-RadioUserland en al, dat hij tenminste kan zeggen dat hij zijn eigen product gebruikt voor zijn weblog. Pfah!

Tee hee, that'll be the day. Normally nobody except Free (freevh.com) and Stijn (siggma.be) reads this. Possibly Peter (amongst others Tuscani.be and Stormvision.be) too. And maybe Lieve (no website, tch!).
I can image I could have a wider audience if I wrote this in English. I can image I'd attract the kind of people who would be interested in the inane blathering of Some Guy Who Doesn't Have A Life™. Possibly.
But then again, I don't really want that kind of attention. So why'd I start a weblog? Well, I've always wanted to keep a diary. And I've been writing stuff on websites ever since I had the Albania For King Zog Committee site. And I'm a compulsive collector. Of things. Books. DVDs. Stuff. Computers. Keyboards. Links to websites. Data. Anything. So it only seemed natural to put all that together and start a weblog to keep a kind of personal record of my feelings, sites I visit, things I do, etcetera.
Why in Dutch? I could probably do this in English. Or in French, given a reason. But Dutch is the language I'm most confident writing in. I don't want to be searching for words when I feel like saying something. In fact, I'm not even writing proper Dutch. Should I be flattered when Harald [dichter@email.com] says "I'm afraid 'blerg' is a Vuijlstekism."? I dunno. I write in my weblog as if I were writing an e-mail to someone I know. Who would, on average be Flemish, fluent in English, at home on the internet and interested in all sorts of things.

Er is echt iets aan de hand met Telenet. Volgens hun helpdesk werkt de modemverbinding perfect, en daarjuist had ik ook eventjes connctie met het internet, maar nu is het weer allemaal dood. Vreemd.
Ha, posten in het Engels en een mens komt de wereld rond. De meerderheid van de bezoekers vandaag zijn binnengekomen via Scripting News, da's dus het weblog van Dave Winer, CEO van UserLand Software, schrijver of co-schrijver van XML-RPC, SOAP, RSS en OPML.
En zelfs al sta ik er maar met één zinnetje in, het doet mij toch echt wat. En ik vind het al een heel stuk minder embarassing als ik de referers bekijk en de top-100 bestaat niet voor 96% uit variaties op het thema "veronique de cock blote borsten".
...maar nu ga ik naar bed, ik ben kapot.
Vandaag lukt het niet om te gaan werken. Ik ben helemaal aan het rillen van de koorts. Niet fijn.
