The “coalition” of the 1991 Gulf War does not exist. The “coalition” of nations willing to “help” with this illegitimate conflict includes, by a vast stretch of the imagination, even Costa Rica and Micronesia and, I suppose, poor old neutral Ireland with its transit rights for US military aircraft at Shannon. But they are not “coalition forces”. Why does the BBC use this phrase? I repeat, why? Even in the Second World War, which so many journalists think they are now reporting, we didn’t use this lie. When we landed on the coast of North Africa in Operation Torch, we called it an “Anglo-American landing”.

Waar is de tijd? Voor ik mijn boeken als testdatabase gebruikte voor applicaties, maakte ik discografie-websites om ColdFusion-dingen te testen.
De lijkjes van die sites stonden eigenlijk nog altijd op de server, altijd wel grappig om van die persoonlijke nooit-voor-distributie-bedoelde sites te zien van in de prehistorie.
- Brel: als ik me niet vergis één van mijn eerste sites met ColdFusion gemaakt, in frames en alles. Die stond vroeger ook op http://www.jacquesbrel.net, maar die url heb ik ergens in 99 aan de Fondation Jacques Brel gegeven. Uit de goedheid van mijn hart eigenlijk, ik had er misschien geld voor kunnen vragen, het was toen nog helemaal dot-com-boom. Maar ik ken hun advokaat (hallo Manu!) en hij vroeg er zo vriendelijk om... Enfin, ik heb de mp3's er op hun verzoek ook afgehaald :)
- Beatles: hier staan de mp3's en soms zelfs midi-files er wel nog op. Eerste poging om search-engine-safe URL's te gebruiken, was toen nog echt cutting edge. Nog voor ik gehoord had van fusebox ook trouwens. Ik had URL's als http://www.zog.org/beat/disc.cfm/pepper/426/pollack, met in dit geval disc.cfm als "fusebox", en een primitief soort afhandeling via

Mmmmm Gainsbourg trouwens: zo enorm goed. Daar staan eigenlijk ook de mp3's op zie ik, 't is maar dat niemand die sites gaat bekijken :D. En als ze mij vragen of ik die dingen illegaal gekopieerd heb: ik heb al die mensen al hun CD's, dus 't is niet illegaal, 't zijn kopieën voor eigen gebruik. Nèh.
Bleh. We hebben iets nodig van iemand, en die mens was drie weken geleden ziek, vorige week niet bereikbaar, en deze week op vakantie. Bah.
En vandaag is het acht maand dat dit weblog bestaat. Het lijkt al veel langer.
Ik heb, zie ik, nog geen dag gemist. Zo'n weblog is echt wel een gedroomd iets voor mensen met lichte dwangneuroses :)
