Not because I was immensely dissatisfied with Radio, just because TypePad is the better service. That, and Robb's Law: I don't want to have a weblog (any website really) on a domain that I don't own.

Voor wie dit nog niet zou gezien hebben: direkt naartoe gaan. Ik ga om de paar maand kijken, en het blijft ongelooflijk verbazingwekkend: Douglas Engelbert's demo in 1968.
The Slashdot set is up in arms that Apple might be misleading people by claiming that the new Power Mac G5 is the "world's fastest personal computer". Someone actually downloaded the full test results from Veritest and examined how they really came up with their numbers, and it looks like Apple might have cooked the books a bit:
Before we examine the SPEC results that Apple/Veritest claims, it must be noted that Apple/Veritest have used a few "cheats" to make the G5 look better. So whenever you see a Apple/Veritest result in the following tables, be aware that it has been affected by the following "cheats". Apple/Veritest used a special fast malloc library on the G5 benchmark, but did not use it on the Dell/Intel benchmark, thus giving the G5 an unfair advantage...For both the Dell Dimension 8300 and the Dell Precision 650, Apple/Veritest performed the multi-processor "Rate" benchmarks with hyperthreading DISABLED. They had hyperthreading ENABLED for the single-processor benchmarks, but DISABLED for the multi-processor benchmarks, despite the fact that hyperthreading would have improved the performance of the multi-processor "Rate" benchmarks, while having little or no effect on the single-processor benchmarks. In either case, this performance-enhancing feature of the Intel processors should not have been disabled.
MacOSX Panther, wauw, fantastisch. Even opsommen wat er allemaal nieuw is:
- "Every Finder window now shows all available volumes, your iDisk and favorite folders in the left column [...] Best of all, this navigation method is available to you when you open and save files in any application". Zoals het de open/save-dialogen van Windows dus?
- Exposé: F9 toont een overzicht van de actieve applicaties. "Impressed? Wait till you hear this: Exposé has two more tricks up its sleeve". Inderdaad: F10 doet hetzelfde maar met documenten binnen een applicatie. "They say the third time’s a charm, and with Exposé it certainly is. Type the F11 key, and Exposé hides all open windows, giving you instant access to your desktop." Windows-M, dat ze zeggen dus?
- "iChat AV. Amazing how two little letters add so much to your communication over the Internet. With just a simple click, you’ll see and hear your co-workers, friends and family no matter how far away they are". Euh, ja, da's dus gelijk MSN Messenger zeker?
- Fast user switching. Ah ja, gelijk in Windows XP dus? Euh, neen, stom van mij: bij Apple gebeurt dat met een 3D cubus die ronddraait. Colour me impressed, pff.
- Mail. Jaja. Een mailprogram. Zolang het niet tegelijkertijd exchange en hotmail en pop/smtp doet, interesseert het mij niet.
- FileVault: encryptie op files. Ho hum.
- "Panther’s built-in PDF viewer, Preview, delivers outstanding performance compared to Windows". O, fijn, nu kan ik PDF's van 25 megabyte die ik van het internet download 0.3 seconden sneller doorbladeren dan op Windows.
- FontBook. Gelijk Fonts in Windows XP, dus?
- Faxing, built in. Gelijk Windows XP dus?
- iDisk. Mja. Ik kan me niet inbeelden dat ik het nodig zou hebben, maar wel goed zeker?
Bumper crop van interessante, vernieuwende features.
O ja, en 't kost natuurlijk wel $129 voor de upgrade.

En ze gaan blijkbaar beginnen aan nieuwe huizen in het gat dat geslagen is in de Kortrijksepoortstraat:
Vanmorgen reed er al een kamion binnen. Ik hoop alleen maar dat het geen monstrositeit is zoals de lelijke appartementsgebouwen rechtover. Zou de Dienst Monumentenzorg daar niets op te zeggen hebben? Vermoed het niet zeker, wegens geen beschermd stadsgezicht en zo zeker?
Ik kan mij dat zo goed niet meer herinneren, maar kon ik al zo vroeg als Zelie met een fiets zonder steunwieltjes rijden?
Die is nu nog geen vier jaar, en ze rijdt in een drukke speelzaal vol met kinderen aan topsnelheid de meest ingewikkelde hindernissenparcours, indrukwekkend.
Phat: een (denk ik toch) Freelancer Clan van allemaal proper schoon gewassen Vlaamsche Jonghens. Kijk vooral naar de foto's, hilarisch!
